Pathfinder Pack Around the World

Today we received a great email from a loyal friend:
Hey Duluth, 
    Just wanted to drop you a note of appreciation for your fine product.  I’ve taken my Pathfinder to the other side of the world and back and it’s no worse for wear.

I’ve had guys from all over the world asking me about this bag and I proudly tell them it’s a Duluth Pathfinder, made one at a time by the best pack makers in the world!  
 
As large as the pack is, and I keep a days worth of personal kit in it at all times, it still fits in the overhead of all the aircraft that I fly on, from “puddle jumper” to 747′s, it is my constant companion…
 
I appreciate your work, products and support of the troops…Keep up the great work…

Each season, we are thoroughly impressed with you, our Duluth Pack fans, and the creativity  and photographic skills you bring to the contest.  We are looking for photos with Duluth Pack products but they don’t need to be to win. Past winners have been on the front covers of our catalog!

Sportsman’s Duffel

This week, our Sportsmans Duffel was featured on Bloomberg’s Loot Blog.

They wrote this great note:

“For a slightly more upscale version of rugged living, there’s the “Sportsman’s Duffel” from Duluth Pack, the Minnesota-based outfitter. At $240, it might seem pricey for a canvas bag. Considering it’s guaranteed for life, you’re allowed to engage in the most reliable justification for buying anything: amortization. So if you have 25 ambulatory years ahead of you, that’s less than $10 a year. Cheap.”

Decling Moose Population Worries Researchers

The moose population in northeastern Minnesota has dropped almost 35 percent from 2012 to 2013, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, leading to concern for the future of the iconic animal. The drop is so severe, and with the cause remaining uncertain, the DNR has cancelled the moose hunt for this coming fall.

The estimate for 2013 is around 2,760 moose in the northeastern part of the state, down considerably from the 2006 estimate of 8,840. In an attempt to learn more about the cause of moose decline, researchers are hoping to collar a total of 110 animals and track their whereabouts through the coming months, according to the DNR’s website.

Here at Duluth Pack, the moose in our logo has come to represent much of what makes our little neck of the woods in northern Minnesota so special. We consider ourselves to be outdoors advocates. Whether it’s camping, hiking, fishing, or hunting, we love to be outdoors. To continue enjoying the amazing sites, sounds and images that we cherish, we think it’s useful to know what’s happening up in our little slice of heaven.
