Read along as we meet these people and share their stories:

Local Grown Series - Dan

Dan is the Interim Director of Glensheen, the Historic Estate. Glensheen, in Dan’s eyes, is “the iconic representation of what people love about Duluth. Great history meets outdoor experience.” He enjoys arriving at work and seeing Lake Superior and the outdoors and then feeling the amazing history. We met up with Dan at work to ask him a few questions. He took along his Bison Leather Doctor’s Weekender.

Dan came to Duluth, from Crosby, MN, because it’s a good hybrid of the Twin Cities and rural MN, and that it’s the only “quasi-mountainous area” in the region. Now that he’s here, his free-time is spent hiking, chasing his twins (although he described this as a life requirement over a hobby), helping his kids experience Duluth, policy making (Dan was recently the City Council President of Duluth), and researching local history.

Dan’s favorite spot in Duluth is a deck at Glensheen where Chester Congdon used to read his morning newspaper. It’s in the shade, with views of the lake, and alongside a river trout stream.

Thanks for showing us around, Dan!
