The temperatures are dropping, the leaves are changing colors, the loon calls are diminishing, but the fish are biting. Fall fishing season is one that we do not take advantage of one bit. We relish in the time of crisp air, hot apple cider beverages, cozy wool blankets, and a fishing rod in our hands. Life by the lake is near perfection.

This year, we have become incredibly close with photographer, Kiley Marissa. She brings a spunk and artistic viewpoint to showcase not only our canvas and leather products, but promote the emotional connection behind the packs. She gets that our goods creates stories and last a lifetime. As we say, “Making memories since 1882″. P.s. check out Kiley’s website HERE

What is your favorite memory on the lake? Is it with your parents when you were a little tyke? Just last week with your beloved? On the water with your granddaddy and you beat him with the bigger fish? Maybe it was the time you didn’t catch a single thing, but laughed the entire time in the cold. Whichever moment you have, we want to be there with you. Check out our Duluth Pack fishing themed products in our retail store or on our website.

Happy fishing, happy memories, and happy shopping!

Triple threat action here. The one, the only, the original.

We hear it constantly and know it. Many companies try to replicate our products. I mean, it’s not that difficult. We’re canvas and leather products. However, the one thing they cannot copy as hard as they may try is our passion, our story, and our heritage.

The Duluth Pack brand itself, revolves around four easy, simple, and to the point causes. Let’s break it down and why each is so important to the existence and reputation of the Duluth Pack company and brand as whole.

1) Duluth Pack stands for QUALITY . As John Ruskin once stated, “Quality is never an accident. It is always the result of intelligent effort.” (This quote was found on We absolutely agree with this statement by Mr. Ruskin. For a 133 continuous years, Duluth Pack has seemed out the most quality designs, techniques, theories, products, and time tested ways to ensure the quality and longevity of a Duluth Pack product remains the same from day one.

2) The second point Duluth Pack involves itself in is PREMIUM PRODUCTS . As the oldest canvas and leather bag and pack making company in the USA, we seek out the highest and most pristine products, materials, and workers to ensure the best product for you, our customers! We want to make sure our durability, lifetime guarantee, and the trust in our goods stays constantly the same. Whether it’s an heirloom passed down each generation, a splurge after good grades, or a daily necessity you carry to work. We want our customers to know we not only research, but seek the most premium items to help manufacture our packs, totes, hunting gear and purses. These include, the type of canvas, the leather used, rivets, the wools, and even the needles we use in or sewing machines. On a last note, Duluth Pack sources as much American Made goods to help create our goods as possible, too!

3) The third on the list is where we are geographically proud to be located. This point is all about MADE IN AMERICA . Duluth Pack has ALWAYS AND ONLY made our products here in Duluth, Minnesota, USA for the continuous 133 years in business! We are proud of where we come from and proud of where we are. We have been in the same factory for almost 104 years (I mean, that’s seriously cool!) . Duluth Pack is the all American brand that has stayed simple, not flashy, to the point, and trustworthy. We’re a humble brand, that isn’t trendy, but we are consistent. You can even say we are predictable and we aren’t ashamed. We’re proud you can count on an American Made product, basically right in your backyard, and we stick with designs that will take you from canoe to car and from train to plane. We’ve got your back.

4) The last but not least point, is that Duluth Pack has always featured and included a LIFETIME GUARANTEE . The Duluth Pack lifetime guarantee covers our craftsmanship and our hardware. What does that entail? Let’s break it down. Craftsmanship – This includes our sewing seams. If a sewing seam breaks loose and unravels, no worries. That’s covered under our lifetime guarantee. Hardware – This involved our zippers, rivets, and buckles. If any of these break or just don’t work anymore, again this falls under the lifetime guarantee. I mean, where can you find a lifetime guarantee on ANYTHING anymore? It’s so difficult to find these days and to know you can count on that with Duluth Pack since the beginning, we think it’s seriously special.

So, when you think of Duluth Pack, remember these four solid, easy, and to the point topics. Quality, Premium Products, Made in America, and Lifetime Guarantee. To know Duluth Pack has remained the same and not conformed to what society or trends entail is what keeps us doing what we know best, making the top rated packs, totes, purses, hunting gear, and canoe bags you can find.

Quality or quantity. Us humans usually have to choose one or the other. You either get a lot of bang for your buck or spend your pretty penny on lots of things. Either way, one is not right over the other. However, here at Duluth Pack, we believe that having quality friends and quality memories are what mean most. Whether it be drinking wine while watching Netflix on the sofa, sitting on the shoreline with a fishing pole in hand, or getting away on a weekend vacay together. Friends are the people who know us inside and out and will be there for us during our roughest or most amazing days. Friends are keepers.

We like to think your Duluth Pack product is like a friend. No, it doesn’t have a beating heart and can’t be the shoulder you cry on, but it’s there for you. Your Duluth Pack will carry you throughout the adventures, memories, and years to come. Your Duluth Pack will age, as humans do, and it will get bumped and bruised, but it will be there for you. It’s almost if you and your Duluth Pack become one. The handcrafted product will actually mold to your stature. The shoulder straps will have indents and grooves that only your body has created. That’s what really makes a Duluth Pack extra special. It’s guaranteed not only for your life, but its life. Which means, it probably will outlive you!

We’ve been making memories with our customers since 1882 and we have no plans on ever stopping. We cherish the adventures and stories we make with all of you and know a friendship with our customers is second to none. You’re 100% quality to us.

Thank you to photographer, Paige Hogan for the amazing photos pictured in this blog. Please feel free to check out her site HERE .

If you did not know, you do now. Duluth Pack is the oldest canvas and leather bag and pack making company in the USA. How old? 133 years and aging!

Aging. Is it taboo? Is it to be ashamed of? Is it to run like Forrest Gump from? Or is is something to embrace?

It’s a word with so much power behind it and sadly it’s mostly considered a negative in society. Duluth Pack takes a 180 degree spin on things (don’t get dizzy now!) . We take pride in aging. Uh huh, that’s right. Why? Because it’s inevitable! We believe aging tells a story. For crying out loud, we are old! I mean, REAL old. We’ve been around since 1882!

We consider our packs somewhat like a person. No, it doesn’t have a beating heart or lungs flow oxygen through the body of the pack, but it has structure, proof of a well lived generation, can communicate stories, and yes, it even ages .

In more cases than not, many of our employees who have owned packs 10 + years are constantly asked if their well worn Duluth Pack can be purchased. Total shocker on society’s aging concepts, right?! Duluth Pack’s products still keep their heritage feel and look with a well loved charm once broken in. Now, you Duluth Pack customers (you’re all the best and thank you for your support and business) understand this! It’s almost like Duluth Pack is a good wine, it just gets better with age.

As Duluth Pack’s President, Tom Sega states, “My Duluth Pack ages better than I am!”. Anyone else have this feeling, too? Another aspect a Duluth Pack product is similar to a person is how to treat the item after it has turned the corner and is considered “aged”. Like an individual, we use anti-aging or beauty brands that we believe make us look our age, but, well better . With Duluth Pack products, if your item is a waxed canvas, we recommend over time re-waxing the item. Locking moisture in and preserving the pack to the highest abilities. Also, our leather products are literally skin, too. As some individuals do, they moisturize with a lotion, body butter, or some kind of vaseline to keep their skin from peeling, breaking, or down right hurting < i> (especially during these harsh winter months) . With our quality leather products, there is also a “cure” for the same outcomes! Check out our selection of leather conditioners and cleaners at and at 365 Canal Park Drive.

Now that are within the first 2 months of the 2015 new year, some people may have put “look younger” as their resolution. We want to preserve age, wear and tear, and mostly the original appeals of what attracts people to Duluth Pack. We aren’t the shiny and in your face, but we radiate quality. Whether a customer is interested in our original canoe packs in olive drab, to a client wanting the bison leather portfolio items we sell, all Duluth Pack’s age. Our parting words with you today will be, “be like your Duluth Pack and flaunt our aging!”

The Heritage of Handcrafted Sets Duluth Pack Apart

February 23, 2012
Scout Pack Tags

At Duluth Pack, we strive to set ourselves apart from the other outdoor gear makers. For 130 years we have been building quality products in Duluth, Minnesota, and for the last 100 of those years at the same factory on West Superior Street. Many of our current manufacturing methods are similar to those in the early 1900’s. Take a quick tour with me, and let me tell you what makes us different.

Individual attention to detail is given to each and every bag we make. Each sewer specializes in their concentration of products, and builds each bag from start to finish. Our sewers would never allow an assembly line because they are personally invested in each one of their bags.

Pride in craftsmanship is the reason we put signature labels on all of our products. These labels read: “Handcrafted by”: with the sewer’s hand-signed initials or name on it. Just lift up that little American flag, and there is the signature. (see photo gallery) This touch of ownership was initiated at the sewers’ request to put their pride of workmanship in writing.

Our sewers, riveters, and leather craftspeople are true artisans and very skilled at their trade. It takes time, effort, and talent to become the best at building the best, and our craftspeople own these skills.

Duluth Pack heritage and tradition has been built over 130 years in the north woods of Minnesota. Our heredity began with a French-Canadian named Camille Poirier and today touches adventurers on all seven continents. Thousands of bags have been carried for millions of miles to create the stories we all love to hear and repeat.

If you are ever in Duluth, stop by our factory for a tour. You won’t fully appreciate what we mean by the quality of handcrafted until you see it in person.

Hand-built in the USA, there is only one original Duluth Pack.
