The Duluth Pack employee we are chatting about today is Marketing Manger, Abe. He’s the “get the job done / let’s have fun” guy. With his witty humor, never ending drive to succeed, and push the boundaries attitude, it’s almost hard to keep up with his daily schedule. Not only is he the Marketing Manager for the company, but he runs the entire Duluth Pack website, manages sales within the outlet, approves photoshoots, fixes IT complications within our business, oh and on top of all of that, he oversees all graphic design and social media coverages through the marketing team. In a nutshell, he has a lot on his plate.
Today is a desk side chat with Abe and we are getting down to the nitty gritty on how he keeps sane, enthused, and pretty darn funny. Without a further ado, here’s Abe, everyone!
How do you…
Start your morning:
“After waking up, I check my phone to see web sales from the previous day. Then I check my email to make sure there isn’t anything that needs my immediate attention. I spend the next 15-30 minutes trying to wake up while watching The Today Show. Then I take a shower, let the dog out, and I’m on my way to the office.”
“I give myself reachable goals. Building on smaller successes leads to larger success. It’s a constant struggle to take a step back and be happy with what you’ve accomplished while still making sure not to get comfortable with yesterdays success.”
“I try not to look like a dummy. The last thing I want to do is be embarrassed at work (or in life for that matter.)”
I like to push boundaries. In Marketing, it’s a lot of educated guesses. Not everything we do is going to pan out like we hoped. But by trying to think outside the box and not being afraid of failure, you realize you could be one small idea from something really big.
As a manager, this is always going to be the hardest part. I do my best to show appreciation for all the hard work that the staff puts in. As we continue getting stronger and stronger at Duluth Pack, it should be motivation for everyone to continue pushing as hard as possible so tomorrow is better than today.
Find personal balance:
I love my wife! As fun as my job is, and as much as I love coming to work, it sure is nice coming home to a special someone. And sometimes, at the end of the day, it’s just best to put the phone away and keep the laptop closed.
I flag important emails and try not to get behind. A clean inbox and clean calendar is key.
End your day:
Check the daily sales and make sure there aren’t any emergencies. Come home, make dinner with my wife, and hang out with the miniature dachshund.
So, next time you click on our website (HERE) you know who is ultimately running it day in and day out. Now how about you purchase something to give Abe some kudos for working so hard huh?
